So I started week 2 this week, and I had an oops!!
I started week 2 on Monday, and woke up late. I didn't have time to get online and confirm the routine for the day, but I was sure I knew it. 60 seconds of running, 60 seconds of walking. So that's what I did...oops. It should have been 90 seconds of running and 2 minutes of walking. No wonder running for 60 seconds didn't kill me :P
So today I went back to the gym and did it correctly. Surprisingly it didn't suck. Some of the 90 seconds required me pushing myself, but overall it felt like it went quickly and I felt good after I was done.
Tomorrow I rest, and Friday back to the gym to do it again. What I do this weekend will depend on my husband's work schedule. Worst case I'll get a workout in at home like I did last week. Last week on Friday I killed it on Wii Fit and did 30 min of step and then a bunch of random exercises to earn 65 fit points. My calves hurt for 2 days...but it was a good hurt.
Couch to 5 k is still going, and going well. I'm excited to keep doing it and nervous for the start of each new week at the same time. My mantra is to trust in the program because it has worked for so many. It will work for me!!

Week 1 Completed!!!!!
So today I did it…I finished week one of C25K. I did my three days this week, and it felt awesome. I am not going to start the week 2 routine until this weekend, but I am hoping to get one extra day of week one training in. For my own mental state I just like to start each week on the same day. This morning’s run was tough, because I pushed myself. I walked faster, and I ran faster than I have in the last 2 work outs. The pay off was that I ended up completing ½ of a 5k in the 25 minutes today. That felt like a massive victory to me. So next week is 60 seconds of running and 60 seconds of walking alternating after my 5 minute warm up walk. I am nervous for it, but I am trusting in the program that I can do it. The program works for so many, that I have to trust in it and trust in my ability. I am starting to really enjoy going to the gym before work. By the time I’m on the road at 7:00AM I’ve finished a work out, gotten 24 oz of water in me, and had a healthy breakfast. It’s a pretty awesome feeling, and it gets the day started out right. I feel like I’m ahead of the game when I get into work each day. So the plan is to hit the gym tomorrow morning again. I hurt the last time I did 2 days in a row, but I know it was that good hurt that really pays off in the long run. I have accomplished week 1, and feel awesome about it….bring on week 2!!

The dreaded 5am wake up
OK...today was going to be a hurdle. I had to wake up at 5:00 and hit the bricks to get to the gym so I could go before work and shower and get dressed. I can't even proclaim the joy I have for getting that done. I ALMOST hit snooze that one last time, but pulled myself out of bed instead. I kept reminding myself how good it would feel to have gotten it done. It was worth it. I had packed all of my stuff the night before, I had my work out stuff ready to go....I had to do it. I got to the gym, put my stuff in a locker, and got on the treadmill. It was harder today than yesterday because I hadn't given my body the day to rest. The program says that you should rest in between running days, but I knew if I didn't go today I wouldn't be back until Wednesday. I worked up a serious sweat and felt awesome. Oddly enough I was the only person getting ready for work in the locker room. It was dead, which made life much easier. I got ready for work and was out in time to get a low fat turkey bacon breakfast sandwich from Starbucks. Boy did that feel good! So it was a victory to go today. I hurt at work right now, but the good kind of hurt where I know I'm moving in a good direction. I'm signing up for the gym I've been trying out, and this will become a regular thing. I feel too good after doing just 2 days of it for it not to be :)

Day 1 is in the Books
This morning I did it...I started Couch to 5 K. Jason had to coach a double header and that meant he had to be out of the house at 8:30. I checked out the hours for the gym on a Sunday and knew it was open 7-3. That meant...get out of the house 1st thing in the morning and get it done!
I got up just before 7 and got ready to go. Then my first oops...I got to CVS to get a bottle of water...and my wallet and cell were at home. OOPS! I turned around and got it, then headed back to CVS. 2nd oops....it was closed. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. So that meant buying my water at the gym...thankfully it was just $1.
I finally got to the gym and was ready to go. I put my sneakers on and hit the treadmill. 5 min of a brisk walk and then my first 60 second run. It was good. I had to alternate 60 seconds of running with 90 seconds of walking for 20 minutes. Some were hard 60 seconds, some were not as hard...but at the end of my 25 minutes I felt damn good. I had accomplished it. It's that workout three times this week, then week to and ramping it up and being closer to completing that 5k.
Got home, had oatmeal and played with B...it was an awesome start to a Sunday. Day 1 is in the books!

Today I bought my sneakers
So last Fall I kept seeing signs for a Turkey Trot in a nearby town. Every time I saw them I thought how rewarding it would be to run that race..coming from a person who does not run. Then I decided that there is no reason I can't run that race in 2011. So Christmas came and I asked for a gift card to Marathon Sports, a local store that is amazing for runners and walkers. They fit your shoe for you. They watch you walk without shoes, then find just the right shoe for your body needs. They watch you walk and run in a couple shoes and direct you to the shoe that will perform best for your body. It's awesome. Check them out at http://marathonsports.com/
So today I brought in my gift card and picked out my new sneakers. They are crazy comfy, and fit really well.

The other day I signed up for a 1 month free membership at a local gym, and may get a full on membership there too.
So it's on. I have what I need to get going and start the Couch 2 5k program. Somewhere between 9-12 weeks I will be able to run a 5k. If I can find a race this summer I may even do that too! I'll keep updating with my progress, and hopefully at the end of it all I will be able to run a 5k...and have less junk in this trunk of mine ;)
PS...just for good measure...when my daughter Bailey saw me using the camera she had to get in on the action. She's the reason I want to do this...she deserves a healthy Mom :)
